In the morning I went to the nearest village. I asked about you there. Did they know you? Did they miss you?

But they were missing no one. People get lost and die, they said. They did not care. You were no one they knew.

I went to the next village, and the next, and the next. I visited all the towns, cabins, and camps I could find, and I asked about you. They weren’t missing anyone, they said.
